Our Story

The Future started as a girls basketball program to help showcase 2 young talented 8th graders Lacey Simpson (U of Illinois), & Angel Jones to the outside world. Joined by some older young ladies from the neighborhood cities (Waukegan High Schools) Shay Pettis (Harris-Stowe), Kim Lang (Harris-Stowe), Tanisha Jones (UIC), Brianna Oglesby, (Zion-Benton) Dominique Moses (U. Illinois-Springfield), Keisha Smith (Chicago State), & Candice Williams (Central Michigan). The mission was to help them learn the game of basketball while showcasing their skills to the world.

Since the start of this first team back in 1999 under Team Franchize/Waukegan stars, we went from IL Surge to its now current form "The Future." The Future formed in 2003 was founded on a rich tradition of exposure basketball as a part of Michael T White grassroots program. We played under that grassroots banner for 7 more years before becoming a shoe team under the Adidas Grassroots contract were in 2013 They would become Adidas Springtime National Champs at the 17u Division. Due to differences with team Adidas at that time we decided to return to Michael T White and the Grassroots basketball exposure tournament circuit as a signature team where we meet Ryan Poke. Ryan would later head his own circuit Certified Basketball and we were ask to be on of the teams because of our standard quality of teams and our success with our joint venture Future Xtreme or FX with Chicago Xtreme Director Drew Winston. With the partnership with certified basketball The Future has made great strides producing new college athletes like ladellia Magget, Krystal Walker, Juliunn "Juju" Redmond, Tekia "T-Baby" Mack, Jazza Johns, Morgan Callahan and more... We are excited moving forward and can't wait to see what "The Future" holds.
